More than Rf47,000 that was stolen from a foreign doctor working in Shaviyani atoll Kanditheemu had been recovered, Police have said. The money had been stolen from the doctor’s house on the 2nd of this month.

An official from the Shaviyani Funadhoo Police Station said that the money stolen from a doctor who worked at the Kandhitheemu Health Post had been found inside a plastic bag buried near the beach, on Sunday last week. He said that the recovered money had been now handed over to the owner.

Police said that two suspects had been arrested in a special operation launched when the doctor had filed a report saying that his three weeks’ wages had been stolen. They were Hussain Thaufeeq, 18, and Mohamed Falaah,19.

“They have both now confessed to stealing the money,” a Police official said. “They had not been able to use the stolen money either.”

Police said that they two had been transferred to Funadhoo and that they are still investigating the crime.
