The young people get together and draw the names of the girl in a box or bottle. Each youth will get a pair according to the name listed in the lottery. If the match as a couple, on a later date they could get married. This is part of the celebration of the ancient Roman Lupercalia purification ceremony which is held every December 13 to 18 February.
