Money Saving Holiday Ideas
Do you like this story?
By booking a stay in a Travelodge, considering some of the UK campsites or choosing one of the many holiday cottages in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset or Dorset, you can take a nice break, without blowing your budget. Prices change along with the seasons, but the view is always breathtaking, regardless of the season.
There are Travel Lodges located in major cities throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. You can search for them online. Book your stay and avoid the extra cost of using a travel agent.
You will usually save money when you make your own plans. But, there are some budget tours and cruises that are only available through travel agents. So, it never hurts to ask.
There are at least a thousand different UK campsites to choose from. If you add in the wilderness sites in the Scottish Highlands and other areas, you will find that there is no shortage of sites for tents, caravans and motor homes. Rental wigwams and other unique accommodations are also available.
There are nearly as many holiday cottages in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset as there are UK campsites. These are private homes, not hotels, located in various spots, from tiny romantic houses deep in the countryside to surprising sunny apartments overlooking the beach. You may find that they are surprisingly affordable.
For an economical break, you can find lots of holiday cottages in Cornwall and other counties in England online. Most owners contract companies to handle the week to week rentals and most of those companies have websites.
You can search according to the number of people in your family or the number of beds that you will need. You can schedule a date and make a reservation, all online, without ever picking up the telephone. If you're taking a large party away for a week, a holiday cottage will save you a lot of money compared to most hotels.
Travel Lodges offer family rooms, with a double bed, and a pull-out double bed. The rooms are ideal for up to four people - once again, this is a good way to save money compared to hotels that only allow two people in a room.
Many UK campsites offer very reasonable rates, but the cheapest ones offer few luxuries, other than the quiet and the view. Rates change from year to year, so always check ahead, before you head out.
If you have pets, be aware that many of the holiday cottages in Cornwall will not allow your four-legged family members to stay with you. Others allow one small pet for an additional fee. Children under the age of 16 might not be welcome, either so check with the individual property when you book.
Travel Lodges are kid-friendly. So, you can save money and still sleep in comfortably, right near your favourite attractions.
