Japan Ariake Colosseum

Make My Trip AdvisorThis stadium was designed to be Japan's Wimbledon: a state-of-the-art venue for international tennis competitions. One thing Ariake can offer that Wimbledon lacks is a way to cope with
changeable weather: a retractable roof. On a clear day the spectators can enjoy the sunshine, but the roof can be rolled into place in minutes if the weather looks threatening.
The same complex also hosts various other events appropriate to the main building's impressive size and capacity, including concerts and major boxing title fights.
If you're a tennis player yourself, you can use one of the all-weather or clay courts in Ariake Tennis no Mori Koen for 1,500 yen per hour on a weekday, and 1,800 yen per hour on weekends and holidays. The price goes up by 500 yen per hour for play after 18:00. The courts are open from 9:00-20:40, but these times may vary somewhat depending on the season.
