Minor International issues statement on Maldives blast

Daily news, 04 Oct 2007

MALE – Minor International, the managing and joint ownership company of Anantara Resort Maldives and Naladhu has issued a statement following the bombing incident here on Saturday.

Michael Sagild, COO of Minor International said, “We are saddened to see that the global risk of terrorism has extended to the Maldives, and extend our sympathies to those who have been affected by the incident. We were relieved that there was no loss of life. We are continuing to monitor the situation in conjunction with the authorities and local tourism authority.”

There were no guests or associates from either Anantara Resort Maldives or Naladhu, in Male at the time of the incident. As both resorts are situated on separate islands some 35 minutes by speedboat from the capital, guests continue to enjoy the range of activities and relaxed atmosphere at Anantara and Naladhu. All guests connect directly to and from their flights via the international airport, situated on an island separate from Male itself.
